5 Tips On How To Inspire Creativity In Your Business

Creativity is one of the great gifts the universe has bestowed upon us. While the rest of the physical matter is busy bustling about in a vacuum, humans have the unique ability to shape the world around them. And in the business world, it is the act of creatively shaping or developing an idea, product, or service that makes you successful and your customers devoted. Its also the fun part. Having an idea and seeing it come to life!

Lack of creativity, or a creative drought, can be a massive obstacle for all kinds of people, from writers (writer’s block) to app development (not thinking outside the box!). Here are a few ways on how to inspire creativity for you and your associates:

Read (A Lot!)

Human history is filled with a seemingly endless torrent of astonishing books, filled with breathtaking writing and stunning insights. The written word dates back to pre-historic times. Storytelling and creativity is as old as humanity itself. No matter how incredible your ideas are you’ve got to get outside your head and experience what other people have had to say. Not only will this inspire you, it will trigger new ideas and give a foundation to old ones. Read some Shakespeare, read some Sartre, heck, read Tom Clancy—just read.

Yes, even if you’re in tech–who knows, some ancient idea may be more applicable now than ever!

Get Outside of Your Head (Exercise)

If you’re sitting in front of the computer brooding right now because you can’t come up with the next big app invention, one of the best things you can do for yourself is to get up and exercise. Jog, do yoga, go for a long walk, go for a swim.

Not only is exercise good for boosting serotonin levels, but new studies are also suggesting that exercise is actually specifically beneficial for creativity. Evidently, it helps to connect different parts of our brain, which reduces fear and anxiety. Another benefit of exercise is staying physically fit, which helps with self-esteem and charisma, two utterly critical characteristics for any trailblazer. I know that exercise has kept me sane all these years. It also gives me my resilience to deal with challenges in life and business. When my fitness trainer of 17 years, Markus Heon, is increasing the speed on the treadmill when I feel I can’t take one more step, my first thought is, “If I can get through this workout, I can do anything! My second thought is, I want to kill him! LOL.”

Listen to others (Brainstorming Sessions)

In the same sense that it’s important to read in order to get outside your head, it’s important that you listen to others in order to understand more about the human condition. This doesn’t mean interrupting the person you’re having a conversation with so that you can explain your opinion, this means actually absorbing what someone else is saying.

A good brainstorming session consists of three major attributes: a positive environment (so that everyone feels comfortable and creative), a focused agenda (so everyone’s on the same page as to what needs to get done), and an open mind for new ideas to arrive. That is why masterminding is so transformative for business, and why we will be doing a lot of this powerful process at my 3 Day Live Event, The Blast Off Business Breakthrough happening in just a few weeks!

These are just a few things you can do to maintain your creative levels. The point is you need to take care of your mind and body and experience the world around you. Treat each day as if it were a step toward the completion of your project or the launch of your new idea!
